Peep the peeps!
We decided to throw another fancy dinner party for this year’s Easter celebration. We made the same ham recipe from a few years ago, sans grill… Greg decided to do it in the roaster and it worked out beautifully.
I was in Philly for Easter a few years ago and while I don’t enjoy eating Peeps, my whole family thinks I am obsessed with them. (I do enjoy the graphic simplicity). Anyway, at some point my nephew decided I needed a gigantic stuffed Peep, so I decided it would work as a centerpiece this year. I took it a little further and dusted off my Silhouette Cameo to make the place cards and decoration. I found more colorful cardstock and I was off and running.
Of course, I obsessed over what font to use. I couldn’t find a proper Peep font, so I decided to use this other font I found on dafont.com. I recreated the pattern from my dishes and thought the font looked great with the dots.
Now onto the food! I didn’t get too many pictures, but I did try out some new recipes! The Lemon Dill focaccia was awesome, especially after using the microwave proofing trick. The dessert spread had some oldies but goodies. I was talking to my mother and somewhow the Impossible Coconut Pie she used to make for the church fish fries came up. I forgot how good and EASY that recipe is. You basically throw all the ingredients into a blender and somehow it magically separates into a crust, filling and topping in the oven!
