Derby Backyard Style

The Derby was back to being held in May, but we still weren’t really going out to bars, so we moved the party to the yard. We had a couple of friends over and I made a Kentucky-themed feast. I didn’t make a new hat for the occasion since I was so busy working on the menu.

The Kentucky menu featured some southern favorites including deviled eggs, Kentucky Brown sliders, Spicy Pimento cheese, Not Kentucky Derby Bars and a party pitcher of Mint Juleps! Luckily the weather held and we were able to watch the races all afternoon.

As much fun as this little backyard soiree was, I am looking forward to hopefully heading to a party next year. ALthough, I do adore that my music teacher neighbor comes out on her porch and plays the Call to the Post on her bugle. It really adds to the vibe!

For the 2022 Derby, we were boring and ended up watching from the couch courtesty of the unpredictable New England spring weather. It was too gross to watch outside. Sad.
