Friendsgiving 2020
Well, we are about 8 months into a global pandemic, which obviously affected social gatherings. We have been keeping to ourselves for the most part. Greg still had to go into his shop, but I was able to work from home. We actually made plans to do a socially-distant Thanksgiving outside with a few friends. I bought a bunch of serving spoons and was working to color-code everything per household to be as safe as we could. I put hand sanitizer everywhere I could think of in the yard and kitchen. There was a mask rule in place for anyone who had to go into the house. As an effort to support small businesses during this time, we ordered from Pennypackers who teamed up with some other local businesses to provide a proper holiday feast. But of course, the crazy New England weather did not cooperate with the plan. I think we could have handled cold, but it was a nasty fall day overcast and drizzling all day. So last minute (Wednesday night), Greg and I packaged up all the food including the few things that we added (garlic bread knots and pumpkin gooey cake) and made deliveries to everyone who was planning on coming.
Not one to make a bad situation worse (or more depressing), I set my table and decorated like I do every year, even if it were just for the three of us.
We still had a great time hanging out and zooming with families later.
